What is NFC Technology?

Near-field communication (NFC) is a set of communication protocols that enables communication between two electronic devises over a distance of 4cm or 1.57 inches or less.

It the same technology that is used for “Tap-&-Go” transactions and central to every contactless mobile action is a little microchip and a radio antenna. This is near field communication (NFC).

What is an NFC Business Card?

An NFC business cards enable you to share your contact information with a single tap of your business card on a new friends smartphone.

NFC business cards have an embedded microchip and a radio antenna to allow them to communicate with other NFC devises.

Are Digital Business cards worth it?

Is there a battery inside the card?

NO, the cards use Near Field Communications (NFC) this is the same as your ‘Paywave’ bank card.  There is a thin wire antenna and a chip embedded in the card.  When it is near an NFC device, it is powered by the radio waves.

Is the card waterproof?

YES, the cards are sealed during manufacture (weather it is bamboo or carbonfibe/PVC).  But they can be damanged by bending!

What is the difference between NFC and RFID?

Contactless cards use Near Field Communication (NFC) to enable transactions, a subset of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). Compared to RFID, NFC works for smaller distances in the range of ten centimeters, while RFID technology can transmit data up to 100 meters.

Where is the NFC antenna on my phone?

Different manufacturers put the antenna (sensor) in different places.
